HAND-IN-HAND CENTRE

Kindergarten & School-Age Care

Hand in Hand Centre is a licensed childcare program designed for children in Kindergarten and up, offering before and after school care, full-day Kindergarten support, and engaging programming during school breaks, summer months, and non-instructional days.

Located in the heart of our community, Hand in Hand provides a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where children can grow in independence, confidence, and connection. Our Educators walk children to and from their school programs each day, creating a seamless and reassuring transition between school and care. This consistency strengthens relationships, supports emotional security, and ensures children feel supported throughout their entire day.

Before & After School Care

Our before and after school programming balances structure with choice. Children are provided with opportunities to:

  • Unwind and recharge after the school day

  • Engage in creative arts, STEM exploration, building, and collaborative projects

  • Spend meaningful time outdoors

  • Participate in group games and leadership activities

  • Complete homework with guidance and support when needed

We recognize that school-age children are developing greater autonomy, responsibility, and social awareness. Our environment supports these growing capacities by encouraging leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and respectful communication.

Kindergarten Care

For our Kindergarten children, Hand in Hand offers attentive care that bridges early learning and school-age expectations. Educators work closely with families to support emerging literacy, social development, self-regulation, and independence skills in ways that feel natural and responsive to each child.

Summer & School Break Programming

During summer, reading weeks, professional development days, and other school closures, Hand in Hand transforms into a dynamic full-day program filled with themed experiences, outdoor adventures, community exploration, creative projects, and collaborative learning opportunities. These extended-day programs are designed to keep children engaged, active, and connected while school is out.

Intentional Spaces for Growing Children

The Hand in Hand Centre includes separate programming areas within the building to meet the developmental needs of different age groups. Older children benefit from spaces intentionally designed to encourage responsibility, creativity, peer collaboration, and age-appropriate independence, while still maintaining connection to the broader centre community.

Our Commitment

Hand in Hand is committed to creating an inclusive, relationship-based environment where every child feels valued and respected. Educators use positive guidance practices that focus on skill-building rather than punishment. Children are supported to:

  • Develop confidence and self-advocacy skills

  • Strengthen emotional regulation and resilience

  • Build empathy, cooperation, and leadership skills

  • Solve problems independently and collaboratively

  • Take responsibility for their choices and shared spaces

We believe school-age care is more than supervision — it is an extension of a child’s learning journey. Through consistent relationships, intentional programming, and meaningful experiences, Hand in Hand supports children as capable, growing individuals ready to thrive both in school and in their community.
